About
Garth is a leader in high fidelity theatrical and contemporary classical sound design. He specializes in spatial sound, immersive theater and orchestral ensemble reinforcement and recording. A gifted musician since his youth, Garth studied western classical and 20th century music at UCSC. After moving to NYC in 2006, he discovered that his ears could be used for more than just performance and composition.
Garth’s intuitive and musical approach to sound design, acoustics, mixing and amplification are at the core of his process. His ear training became the bedrock for frequency recognition, room/system tuning and the critical listening skills needed to perfect a mix. Speaking the language of composers, orchestrators, and musicians has been an important asset in guiding the sound world of each production to achieve the highest listening aesthetic possible.
In partnership with Meyer Sound, Garth is an expert in Constellation, Space Map systems and in production speaker systems design. His recent credits include:
‘Illinoise’ by Sufjan Stevens/Justin Peck/Jackie Sibblies Drury; ‘The Old Man and the Sea’ by Paola Prestini; ‘The Night Falls’ by Ellis Ludwig Leone; ‘Song of Songs’ by David Lang and Pam Tanowitz; ‘In Our Daughter’s Eyes’ by Du Yun; Grammy-nominated ‘Soldier Songs’, ‘Black Lodge’ and ‘Dog Days” by David T.
